June 17 Primary Information

There is only a Democratic Party primary election on June 17. There is no Republican Party primary in Norfolk.

The Democratic Party primary is for Lt. Governor and Attorney General. Everyone in the City can vote at their usual polling place. (Note: Those who voted at Calvary Revival Church will now vote at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5767 Sellger Drive. The new polling place is called Eastside. You will be notified by the Registrar’s office.)

Early Voting
– Early voting for the June 17 Primary Election(s) will begin on Friday, May 2 at Norfolk City Hall (8:30 AM – 5 PM).
– The deadline to vote early in person for the June 17, 2025 Primary Election(s) is 5 PM., Saturday, June 14.
– Please note: Virginia voters do not register by Party. Both Democrats and Republicans may vote on June 17.

Absentee Voting
– The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail for the June 17 Primary Election(s) is 5 PM, Friday, June 6.
– Voters may request an absentee ballot for a single election or be placed on the Permanent Absentee list to receive ballots for all future elections.
– Click HERE to apply online for an absentee ballot. Please indicate a political party preference to request ballots for Primary Elections.
– All polling places will offer drop boxes for absentee ballots to be returned on Election Day. You may return your voted ballot to your polling place.
– Voters may opt out of future absentee ballots by submitting the attached notice to the Registrar’s office.
